OLUSEGUN OBASANJO CENTRE FOR ENGINEERING INNOVATION (OOCEI)

The
Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for Engineering Innovation (OOCEI), established as a
copy technology centre for the manufacturing of models and prototypes, was
formally commissioned on May 16,2003 by the former Minister of Education. It is
a Centre-of-Excellence project established by the Education Tax Fund (ETF) in
2002 with the following broad objectives:
(i) Information
Communication Technology:
for
business located 50km radius of the campus and internet service provider i.e.
putting the polytechnic community on to the window of global communication and
also enabling the polytechnic operate its own website in aid of academic
research, computer training, computer assembly and maintenance.
(ii) Engineering
Innovation: involving the direct
production of consumables, glasswares and engineering tools through
manufacturing adaptive innovation and copy technology of simple tools or parts.
The Centre, which has already ventured among others into the assembly of
tractors, high-grade voltage regulators and computers, is also to serve as an
avenue for students to imbibe practical industrial experience.

(iii)
Engineering Research:
The well equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment
and instruments will support various research projects and quality control in
food, drinks and flour milling businesses.
(iv)
Technology Incubation Centre:
The
centre, with its vast engineering base, is well disposed to the development of
the equipment needed by clients of various small-scale industries (from nursery
through actual implementation).
(v) Training:
Industries and private enterpreneurs
can take advantage of our proven facilities to train their staff in the areas of
skill acquisition, on-line problem-solving and industrial management
